Is your club -

• generating profits from trading of less than £15,000?
• receiving gross income from property of less than £10,000?
• formally constituted?
• open to the whole community?
• organised on an amateur basis?
• promoting participation in sport?

If you can answer yes to all these questions, then Corporation Tax Relief and 80% rate relief may be available to save the club money, and gift aid may be available to enhance the value of donations.

There are two routes to registration which appear to have slightly different effects.  For example, the Inland Revenue route has simplified annual accounting but rate relief is at the discretion of the Local Authority, whereas the Charity Commission annual reporting may be more involved but rate relief is mandatory.
